Using excessive or the wrong soap on the skin has the potential to disrupt the acid mantle and delicate microbiome in our skin - especially on our face. It may seem counter intuitive to cleanse with oil, but this utilizes the principle of 'like dissolves like' providing a deep cleanse while strengthening the skin's protective barrier.
Oil cleansing has the following benefits:
- Deeply cleans, removes impurities and make - up, and regulates our natural sebum production without stripping moisture
- Leaves skin feeling smooth and hydrated
- Reduces acne and buildup that contributes to blackheads and clogged pores
How to Oil Cleanse:
- Apply Apply a dime sized amount (3 pumps or a dropperful or two) of oil into dry skin with clean hands
- Massage: Gently massage oil into your skin using circular motions for 1 -2 minutes - paying special attention to problem areas like the T - zone or around the nose. This helps to stimulate circulation, and dissolve impurities, dirt, make -up, or excess oil.
- Steep: Take a clean washcloth and soak it in hot water - as hot as you can comfortably stand - and drape over your face until it is cool. This allows for deeper penetration of the oil and allows impurities to be brought to the surface.
- Wipe: Gently wipe the oil off the surface of your skin with the cooled washcloth.
